Sexing[edit]

Not easy to sex, females will be fuller in the belly.

Tank compatibility[edit]

A shoaling fish that must be kept in groups of 6 or more. Due to their high activity levels they should not be kept with shy or nervous fish, nor with slow moving fish.

Diet[edit]

This fish will accept most foods including pellet and flake, spirulina, brine shrimp and daphnia and they will also nibble on blanched vegetables.

Feeding regime[edit]

Feed once or twice a day.

Environment specifics[edit]

They should have a spacious tank with plenty of open swimming space and some current, décor in the form of bogwood and driftwood branches is appreciated, they may nibble soft plants but hardy plants like Java Fern may work best.

Behaviour[edit]

A very active shoaling fish.

Identification[edit]

With a body shape similar to the more often seen Serpae Tetra, this fish is pale and iridescent in colour with two dark spots, one just behind the gills and one on the caudal peduncle, giving it its common name.
